Artmorfose opened in April 2000 at home shopping center D&D in Sao Paulo, but in the first semester 2005 reopened in the district of Vila Madalena after purchasing and fully preparing its new location. Vila Madalena, a known artist district, seemed the ideal setting to put forward Artmorfose’s proposal which in a nutshell is one of valuing the creativity and craftsmanship of those who engage in producing handmade articles and a genuine respect for nature and for the human being.
You can easily spot the proposal of the installations – to reunite man with an environment simultaneously carefree and sophisticated of the natural elements of which the furniture is made for then in turn he can add his own story to the history these pieces of furniture, made of demolition materials of homes of past times, already bring. It is a continuous add-on of people’s lives captured in Artmorfose’s furniture.
In our location at Vila Madalena – now transformed in showroom of Artmorfose in cooperation with this charming Bar/ Restaurant Madeleine - the surroundings are totally tuned with the content they house: walls of demolition bricks, floors mixing wood and several different types of bricks, doors, shelves, dormants, anvels, etc. of old wood throughout the space, the lighting and water tubes apparent. All this makes the perfect ambiance for the hand-made exclusive furniture of Artmorfose.address; Rua Aspicuelta, 201 – Vila Madalena. Artmorfose has become a landmark for those who desire exclusivity, coziness and to feel at ease but with high quality and sophistication. Tables, closets, treasure chests, folding screens, mantels, dressers, beds amongst other furniture, all hand-made , as , etc, send out waves of craftsmanship and art throughout the entire space. No piece is exactly like another – the types of wood from demolished homes vary continuously but always are specimens of the noble, good quality and renown Brazilian wood , different time marks on each lot of wood , original patina in various colours by previous owners is only partially scraped off to allow for the beautiful wood to come through without totally eliminating the individual “stamps” of such owners, exclusive baroque polychrome paintings on many pieces, different kinds of demolition bricks. Much research has been put into the farm style of the baroque period both in Brazil as well as in some European countries, latter also with glimpses into the medieval period for inspiration for details to our furniture.
